You know those friends who everywhere they go run into someone who knows them and needs to stop say hi because your friend is just so lovely, well Estie is that friend. Everyone loves this beautiful lady and not just because she bakes the most delicious sweets! In my late nights of no sleep with a newborn, I somehow found an event post for a mom meet-up at a local coffee shop that I didn’t follow or even know existed – to this day I still have no idea how I found this! I had no mom friends in my city or any friends for that matter and decided I should be brave and go. I drove past the coffee shop at least 4 times before I was finally brave enough to park my car and carry in my newborn to meet what I hoped would be my newfound friends. A few ladies and their babies were sitting together chatting and trying to make connections by asking did you know this person or that – my freaking nightmare, I didn’t know anyone in this city and now I was going to be coined the weird mom! The one person everyone knew was Estie, whoever that was. Long story short the beautiful Estie walked out to the group with a tray of lemon meringue tarts and the rest is history.
Much like myself, Estie’s husband is often out of town for work and while he is away her parents are very much involved with their sweet grandchildren. They are always just a phone call away and are even brave enough to take both kids for sleepovers! Mother’s Day was approaching and I could think of no better combo than the beautiful Van Der Berg’s.
You could feel the love and happiness in this group and true joy children bring – when there is no meltdown of course. This was the first family gallery that brought tears to my eyes with the love they had for each other. These sweet hugs and giggles will be cherished long after both kids are too cool for family photos.
